After a wait of 40 years, Indian Air Force Group Captain and astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla created history for the world’s most populous nation on Wednesday by blasting off to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the private Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission. The take-off happened at the historic Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, which was also the launch pad used by Neil Armstrong for his historic Moon landing mission.
